The power of creativity to support healing

Violet Astor is a UK based artist who produces large and detailed charcoal drawings combined with natural materials found in the environment of her subjects. Her special interest is in travelling to the wild corners of the planet to find endangered species. With the aim of producing bodies of work to raise awareness and funding to support their survival.

Violet is a self-taught artist who discovered drawing during the years she was chronically ill with Lyme Disease, when it became a therapeutic medium for healing.

Violet Astor shares how discovering her love of art supported her healing journey. This is a particularly unusual session, because Violet also happens to Alex Howard’s sister in law, so as part of the discussion they also explore the challenges of being a carer and support person on the healing journey.
